  • Wal-Mart employs more than 2 million associates worldwide, including more than 1.4 million in the United States. Wal-Mart is not only one of the largest private employers in the U.S., but the largest in Mexico and one of the largest in Canada as well.

  • Wal-Mart is a diverse employer. In our U.S. stores, more than 165,000 Hispanics; 251,000 African Americans; 39,000 Asian Americans; 5,000 Pacific Islanders; 16,000 Native Americans; 355,000 associates age 50 or older; and 856,000 women choose to work at Wal-Mart.

  • Shortly after launching the $4 prescription program, we expanded it to cover 90-day prescription supplies for $10. Today, there are more than 300 prescriptions covered in Wal-Mart’s affordable pharmacy program.
  • To ensure we have the products on our shelves that meet the needs of our diverse customers and communities, we source from companies in more than 70 countries worldwide, including nearly 61,000 US businesses-large and small. These relationships support more than 3 million US jobs.
  • The Wal-Mart Private Fleet started with two tractors and four trailers, according to Sam Walton in Made in America. Now the fleet has 8,000 drivers, 7,300 tractors and more than 50,000 trailers.
  • Nearly 1.2 million associates and family members, representing more than half our workforce, are covered by Wal-Mart health care plans.
  • Wal-Mart Vision Centers and Sam’s Club Optical Centers see more than 6 million patients each year.
